Private Finance Initiative / Public Private Partnership.
In 1992 the government introduced PFI this evolved into Public Private
Partnerships and has become one of the government’s principal methods
of procuring services and public infrastructure. It allows otherwise public
funded projects to be enabled in partnership with the private sector.
