Welcome to G & J Seddon Limited Established in 1897, in Little Hulton, Worsley, by George and John Seddon, and now located on Plodder Lane, Edge Fold, Bolton, the business gained a reputation for quality and reliability, which resulted in it being incorporated as G & J Seddon Limited in 1920. During the next two decades many high-class contracts were executed and in particular G & J Seddon Limited became synonymous with quality brickwork, the original trade of the founders. It was in this period that John Seddon's three sons entered the business and the Company expanded, carrying out much of its work for Government Departments and Local Authorities in the North-West.
In the Forties and Fifties, under the careful direction of the Seddon family, the Company's building activities were widened and a branch office was opened in Stoke-on-Trent. This became a separate associate company, Seddon (Stoke) Limited, in 1957 and the Seddon Group was created. The same period, also saw expansion into contractor's plant services with the formation of Seddon's (Plant and Engineers) Limited. Over the last four decades the Group's activities have steadily expanded and many prestigious contracts have been undertaken. Today, the Group is under the direction of the third and fourth generations of the Seddon family and continues to offer the same high standard of personal service on which its reputation was originally founded. G & J Seddon Limited is now one of the region's leading building contractors. It provides a stability of employment not normally associated with the building industry, employing an in-house work-force of over 550. The range of activities undertaken by G & J Seddon Limited comprises all types of New Build, Repair, Refurbishment and Term Maintenance contracts in both the public and private sectors.
